British Institute of Verbatim Reporters
Gold-standard verbatim transcripts produced by accredited, experienced, professional stenographers. That`s just part of the service our Membership offers.
Need to view your transcript in real time? Require a same-day first draft or final transcript? Does your hard-of-hearing client need to be able to follow proceedings in a discrete way via a tablet device in the courtroom? Perhaps your proceedings are of one of the highest statuses of sensitivity and confidentiality where no electrical equipment can be used. Do you have a D/deaf employee who needs to follow meetings? At the British Institute of Verbatim Reporters (BIVR), our highly skilled members can provide you with all of these services, as well as accurate, first-rate transcripts within any delivery time you require and in any format you need.
Founded in 1865 under the illustrious name of The Institute of Shorthand Writers practising in the Supreme Court of Judicature, BIVR has been the home of professional reporting for many a generation and has always ensured that its members adhere to a very high standard of professionalism and produce high-quality transcripts. In the early days shorthand-writing was all about working in the legal system and courtrooms up and down the land, but no one could have foreseen the technological world that would bring with it realtime reporting and communication support in the form of speech-to-text for the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.
The advent of digitisation in all courtrooms across the nation has not meant that we have packed up our machines, put away our pads and pens, and closed our computers only to never be heard of again. In fact, our members cover assignments in many forums, ranging from international arbitrations, public inquiries, American depositions, regulatory health proceedings, press conferences, meetings, coroner's court and, yes, courtrooms, as well as being able to provide speech-to-text/captioning services at conferences (both large and small), museums, concerts, festivals. Believe us when we say that the list goes on and on.
Our members are spread all over the country, so if you require a reporter in, say, Aberdeen or Manchester, just go to our website, find the dropdown box `Reporter Search`, fill in your requirements, click on the region and an email will be sent direct to our members in that area. It's as simple as that.
BIVR`s role is to protect and promote the interests of our members, and we do so with a passion. We held our second BIVR Awareness Weekend in the summer of 2017, culminating in a London Exhibition held at The Law Society on the final day. All in all, the event was a great success. Preparations are already underway for the next one in 2019!
We are at Stand 402, so why not stop by and see demonstrations of exactly what it is that we do and what it takes to provide you with a top-notch service and superior transcripts?
