As Director of Education and Training Julie is responsible for leading the SRA’s ongoing review of legal education and training, including the development and introduction of the new Solicitors Qualification Examination (SQE). A former litigation partner at Herbert Smith, she also ran the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice for many years.

The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), a new consistent assessment for qualifying solicitors, is due to be introduced in 2021. This session will cover what the SQE is, the progress made so far, and how it could enable law firms to recruit in new ways.
